The MH Professional I provides trauma-informed family and individual mental health services to family members according to the Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) model within the ARC framework of understanding trauma.
The MHP 1 will conduct child and family assessments for trauma exposure, family history, and individual functioning. Psychoeducation resources will be delivered to family members including among others:
trauma awareness, mindfulness, emotion awareness, arousal regulation, developing healthy relationships, and competent daily functioning.
The MH Professional I participates with their team member in co-therapy sessions (or other identified team activities) with family. It is expected that 60% of the time will be co-therapy and 40% of the time will be individual time with family members. The MHP 1 will also collaborate with teammate and family members in the development of monthy treatment plans, and crisis plans, in addition to providing Crisis Intervention both during the day, and when scheduled on-call, will provide crisis intervention coverage in the evenings and weekends.
This position requires that 65% of available time be dedicated to providing direct care to clients as well as case management services and meeting with collateral service providers

JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:


  • Conducts family evaluations, including in-home observation and interviews in order to assess for trauma exposure, family structure, relationship dynamics, parenting skills and family member support systems. Ensures competency in providing mental health services including trauma informed, trauma competent treatment within the ESFT model to program's patient population(s).

  • Participates in the collaborative development (with family and treatment team) and documentation of treatment plans on a 30 day schedule. Provides mental health and case management services in alignment with treatment plan goals.

  • Provides telephone and in-person crisis intervention to families during both scheduled and non-scheduled work hours to ensure crisis services are available to those in need. Provide on-call crisis interventions and serve as back up after hours on rotating schedule (department specific).

  • Meets with individuals from applicable community services to assure appropriate service delivery for families and participates in inter-agency case review activities and assists in the coordination of meetings for inter-team consultation to promote maximum use of community resources.

  • Documents services and interventions provided to family in progress notes, treatment plans and daily log to assist in maintaining a chronological and complete and accurate accounting of client care. Provide documentation in a timely manner according to program and agency standards.

  • Demonstrates high standards of conduct in the work-environment and to the institution, in a professional manner, to ensure clients are provided with high quality services. Establishes a good work rapport with team member through team training and supervision.

  • Actively participate in one and a half hours of team or individual clinical supervision per week and one and a half hours of group clinical supervision per week. Document clinical supervision as requested by supervisor.

  • Participate in required trainings throughout the year. Demonstrates knowledge of the model used by Family Based Services (ESFT) and the ARC trauma treatment model. Monitor and upload Certificates of attendance in all trainings to MEL to provide verification of training hours.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.

  • Provides accurate documentation for all family support funds spent on behalf of families in the EHR. Provides receipts for all credit card transactions for reconciliation and approval of monthly credit card statements in a timely manner.

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrates/models the Network's PCRAFT values during interactions with all customers.

  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate:
    Clinical Care/Outcomes, Documentation, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, practices and in the use of Family Support Funds.

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code, and professional conduct.

  • Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:


Must have ability to sit for 2 total hours per day, and up to 1 total consecutive hour. Must be able to stand for 8 total hours per day and up to 2 total consecutive hours. Must be able to walk 6 total hours per day and up to 10 total consecutive minutes. Must have the ability to frequently use fingers/hands for fingering and handling. Must have the ability to use upper extremities for frequent pushing of objects up to 10 pounds and occasional pushing of objects up to 75 lbs. Must have the ability to transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs. via wheelchair, stretcher and/or bed. Must have the ability for frequent stooping and bending. Must have the ability for frequent reaching above shoulder level. Must have the ability for touching as it relates to feeling objects by touching with the skin, particularly that of fingertips. Must have the ability for hearing as it relates to normal conversation, high frequency and low frequency hearing sounds. Must have the ability for seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, color vision and peripheral vision.


EDUCATION:


A Bachelor's Degree in a mental health/human services related field as well as at least two years of clinical or other experience working with children.


TRAINING AND
Experience:


Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for working with trauma impacted youth and families as well children who present with severe emotional disturbance, neuro-atypical children and/or children with developmental delays.


Ability to maintain empathy with all family members to maintain therapeutic alliances to support individual and family growth and development.


Good decision-making skills, utilize clinical supervision effectively to provide good clinical outcomes.


Ability to work both independently as well as work as a team member.


Excellent organizational skills.
